Book sources and rights

Our free library contains 100 eligible books from the source’s past-30-days ranking through 17 October 2026. The copyrighted David Wyllie translation of Metamorphosis (rank 26) is excluded; the next ranked eligible title, Dubliners (rank 101), is included. Other editions and languages are preserved as ranked.

We acknowledge Project Gutenberg and its volunteers as the source of these transcriptions. No affiliation or endorsement is implied. Source acknowledgements are separate from the reading editions.

Each selected edition has an explicit “Public domain in the USA” catalogue record. Its source header was checked for permission-based restrictions. Source framing and all references to the source trademark were removed from the reading text under the source licence, section 1.C. Removing framing is not a way to override copyright.

Public-domain status in the United States does not determine rights in another country. This collection has not been cleared for every country.

Each title’s original source link, copyright metadata, contributor information and file hashes are available in the source register. These books remain free to read in Glance Reader. Paid practice tools do not change the rights in the underlying text.

Cover images are pinned thumbnails from the same public-domain editions, served by our backend. Four books use original vector artwork created for this app in place of source-branded thumbnails. Per-book artwork sources, formats and hashes are listed in the cover register. Artwork has the same US-only rights-screening scope as the texts.
